When kenya's retired major general Hussein Ali who was plucked from the safety of kenyan army military barracks and put to head the countries police force some time in 2003, few would have known that come 2010 he would be named as a suspect by the international criminal court ICC for crimes against humanity.

The kenyan military has a very high reputation for professionalism and discipline so when the countries newly elected political elite were looking for someone to inject radical change in kenya's infamous police force ,they opted to get an outsider to come run the force as police commissioner.
They picked on the then Brigadier Hussein ALI after brief but rigorous vetting exercise .

This has forced the Kenyan top general, General JEREMIAH KIANGA to step into this saga-

http://www.planetf1.com/news/3213/6447082/Todt-rules-out-African-F1-grand-prix

He was meeting Kenyan motor sports officials who are lobbying for the return of the WRC\FIA championship calender to Kenya.
South Africa is the only African country ever to host the prestigious formula one event during the apartheid years at Kyalami racetrack.

The last race during the apartheid era was in 1985 whereby a number of teams boycotted the race due to international pressure.
Formula one returned briefly in the 1990s after apartheid was kicked out of South Africa.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5103879321523674155.post-74841231887918735522010-10-16T09:57:00.002+01:002010-10-16T10:01:54.511+01:00THE CASE FOR BUILDING A FORMULA 1 RACE TRACK IN EASTERN AFRICAIt may sound like wishful thinking now but has anybody ever sat down and thought hard about this and how this can transform the economies of this region?
Firstly formula one is the pinnacle of motor sport and the technologies involved are mind boggling.
A formula one car is a serious machine operating from start to finish at an average 18000 revs per minute. The V8 700 to 1000 horse power engine has a gearbox that propels the car from standstill to speed as shown here-

0 to 100 km/h (62 mph): 1.7 seconds
0 to 200 km/h (124 mph): 3.8 seconds
0 to 300 km/h (186 mph): 8.6 seconds

The G forces involved are like a modern jet fighter pilot undergoes when he takes his plane through the supersonic speeds and turns.
READ more about formula one here-

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Formula_One
NOW why do i think we should have a track in East Africa to host one formula one race ?
just imagine the revenue we can generate trough tourism.ONE EVENT of formula one has over 1billiion people viewing on TV between Friday the start of practise and Sunday the race day itself. There is no better advertising platform anywhere on earth better than this.

The teams participating are mobile caravans of engineers, mechanics, media people, advertising executives etc and all these need accommodation .The expense account of one formula one team can run the whole foreign affairs ministry of Kenya for six months.

WE have game parks and good hotels and the week before and after the event these will be deal for Rest and relaxation before the next race.
East Africa used to host the world famous Safari Rally and those days we had very healthy tourism numbers of visitors to our region but since we lost that we are no longer on the world stage, despite the fact that one of the formula one vice presidents for sport is KENYAN named Surinder Thathi who lives in Tanzania.
All we need is our governments commitment to guarantee the sport and then get Private investors to design and build a racetrack.
The track can be put to good use all year round to host motor shows ,weekend carting races and all manner of motoring activities including race driver training safety promotion etc.
WE could organize weekend speed days whereby all drivers are encouraged to come and race under controlled conditions so that we get rid of these speed demons from our roads who cause untold deaths and misery to the public.
This billion dollar industry can bring many benefits to our region and also spar the infrastructural developments to new heights..that is why emerging and semi developed economies like INDIA, SOUTH KOREA.,RUSSIA, are rushing to cash in on this by agreeing to build formula one tracks on their soil
Places like Singapore, Bahrain, Abu Dhabi, are relishing the publicity and exposure the once yearly event brings to them.
IT is expensive to set and run these events but to me the benefits outweigh any costs in the initial set up costs.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5103879321523674155.post-65579258386839819632010-10-16T08:17:00.003+01:002010-11-10T10:30:33.703+00:00MUSEVENI LOBBIES OBAMA ON SUDAN SOUTH SUDAN INDEPENDANCEAccording to reliable reports President Museveni of Uganda is busy lobbying Washington to support the separation of this giant African state of Sudan.

http://www.nation.co.ke/News/africa/Bashir:%20No%20acceptance%20Sudan%20unity%20alternative/-/1066/1031494/-/imo9og/-/index.html

Now we Kenyans have invested heavily in this and one wonders what will be our posture if war breaks out

we have already started the Lamu port and the rail link is in the works.

A recent high powered UN delegation to Sudan especially Juba led by Susan Rice who is by the way despite being the USA envoy to the UN , she sits on the Obama cabinet and is said and known to be very close to Obama himself. She was one his closest advisers during the campaign for the white house.

My concern here is that no efforts were made by the Kenyan government to connect with this woman as she was around the region .this is a failure by the hapless foreign affairs led by Mr Wetangula, Kenyan foreign affairs minister who never seems to be on the ball when it comes to Kenya's interests.

Museveni says he is ready back south Sudan if war breaks out.He is clearly posing a challenge to Kenya who with their two pronged policy of good neighbourliness will get them nowhere.

We need to state our stand and up now and to let the worlds of President Yoweri Museveni of Uganda to be aware that an independent South Sudan is like the extension of Kenya itself and we will use all means available to make sure that South Sudan is a success and is part of the wider community of functioning East Africans.
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5103879321523674155.post-64823369846830402392010-10-07T19:52:00.000+01:002010-10-07T19:52:40.043+01:00MUSEVENI SAYS BLOCKADE SOMALIA TO STOP TERRORISTS.President Yoweri Museveni of Uganda believes that if all the sea and air roots to Somalia are blocked then these alqaida inspired thugs in the name of alshabab will be defeated easily because they will not be able to re arm and get money for their activities.

http://www.monitor.co.ug/News/National/-/688334/1027700/-/cmytk2z/-/index.html
I agree with him in this case that one way to stop these guys is to allow only humanitarian cargo to the Somali airspace.
but who can enforce this?
WE have over 50 warships from the worlds top navies patrolling the waters off the long Somali coast and yet the piracy problem still lingers.
The Kenyans can easily stop all flights connecting through Kenya like moi did at one time until the tribal factions came to see him in Nairobi's leading to the resumption of these flights
plus of course we have the Mira (khat) trading cartels from Meru who will loose out big if those planes do not take of from Wilson airport for Somalia.
IT seems that nobody will listen to Somalia until they directly threaten the western interests and M7 is waging a lone ranger battle.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5103879321523674155.post-27392434218791007782010-10-05T12:17:00.001+01:002010-10-07T19:54:46.457+01:00KENYAN TERROR SUSPECTS RENDITIONED TO UGANDAThere is a story in this weeks east African newspaper SUGGESTING that all those Kenyans who were taken to Uganda by the Kenyan police on suspicion of the Kampala bombing were actually innocent.

The story is that the American FBI instigated the arrest of these Kenyans and the subsequent rendition to Uganda because there is no anti terror legislation in Kenya.

If that is the case then it seems there is some sort of abuse of the use of arrest powers by the Kenyans and worse still innocent people are being punished in a FOREIGN country for crimes they have allegedly committed but not proved.
We have a fugitive from justice now straddling the corridors of power and fame in the name of "sonko".
WE have politicians again stroking and stoking for the anti Acampo and ICC alliances under the tribal cocoons.
HOW can a sitting vice president who hopes to succeed kibaki think that Kenyans are easily hood winked by saying that it was his joining the government of national unity that brought Peace in the country in 2008?
Kalonzo Musyoka is the biggest turn coat on the Kenyan political scene.
We all know he was all along a a mole planted by the KANU/moi strategists who thought that he would win the original ODM presidential nominations, but when that failed they financed his campaigns so heavily in the hope of upstaging the ODM band wagon led by one Raila Odinga whose drum beats were directed at PNU full throttle... but that set the stage for this epic battle which led to the tribal tensions that we saw
NOW it is becoming clear to ICC that there were no plans actively in place for people to kill each other before the elections.
BUT the initial reactions only occurred after the fake results were announced by the KIVUITU gang..so far no evidence has come out that the Eldoret church massacre was preplanned as the media wants us to believe.
This led to the retaliatory attacks that led to those secret meetings with mungiki groups that led to the Naivasha massacre which by all accounts was planned by pro government elements of the ruling clique at that time.
The security forces mainly the AP and GSU did most of the deadly work by adopting the shoot to kill policy
The focus for ICC now faces the government and the activities before and after the elections.
SO WHY are KALONZO, MUTULA,and others trying to hide behind the tribal thing and yet there were very few killings eastern province but 95 percent of the violence took place in Nairobi, rift valley, coast and western Kenya provinces?.
KENYANS MUST DEMAND proper accountability now that we have a new political dispensation
This mbuvi mheshimiwa must be arrested and explain his past to Kenyans.
The circus about ICC must stop and these investigators left to knock on every door, turn every stone and let the devils of the violence come out and be prosecuted so that the ghosts can be laid to rest and Kenyans left to move on.
Hiding behind the so called state security name is not enough....after all the ONCE well respected Kenyan state was plunged into this abyss by the defunct GANG of men under one KIVUITU..who to date no one has held to account .Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5103879321523674155.post-52316813140209681022010-10-03T00:44:00.000+01:002010-10-03T00:44:43.577+01:00MAJOR GENERAL ALI WILL BE THE FALL GUY WHEN ACAMPO IS DONEThe Kenya police under the leadership of the highly trained military man( Rtd) Major general ALI during the 2007/8 PEV IN KENYA did a perfect job in doing what the politicians wanted..IE stop and crush by all means any resistance from the public once it was obvious that the incumbent government was loosing the elections.
We all watched live on TV as all the pieces fall in place and the mayhem that followed
After the whole thing was contained there were over 1300 official deaths and of these more than three thirds were from gunshot wounds.
We all know who fired these bullets that caused those wounds and deaths
NOW that acampos men are in town we are now seeing a circus
no politician is talking as we see the police chiefs being pushed around to record statements
The politicians failed to agree and let people have their will but instead used the security forces and the criminal gangs that changed Kenya for ever.
but FROM what am seeing unfold they will lay the blame on ALI and his men .i can see the folly being so efficient in doing your job
where will the back end ?Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5103879321523674155.post-30567896885564277812010-10-02T14:50:00.002+01:002010-10-03T00:49:19.839+01:00UGANDA AND THE UN REPORT IN CONGOHOW things change... a few years ago Uganda was the darling of the western world and media to an extend that two sitting American presidents have dropped in for a visit in the recent past bypassing the regions main economic player KENYA.
M7was good at playing his countries new found eminence by getting his nose and hands into all manner of conflicts which led to the massive deployment of UPDF forces into the then Congo.
Now it seems the chickens are coming to roost.
WHY?
Uganda has discovered oil meanwhile...
M7 wants to rule until they kingdom come since he got rid of term limits..
And now it has taken many years since the alleged atrocities by the UPDF took place
What is annoying is that we all knew what had happened at the time but no action or any event was started to look into these things until recently
I think the idea is that they are setting up the stage to pull the plug on M7 and eventually dangle the Hague noose on his face so that he can fall in the line.
Remember the ICC has now set up shop in NAIROBI and things are set to role in the region once they sort out the Kenyan post election violence.
The question is how far do we get pushed by these international bodies which are pursuing a one sided agenda to punish Africans while they ignore crimes elsewhere?.
LETS face it while i do not condone any crimes committed and indeed welcome any function that seeks to investigate and punish the perpetrators, i think the UN is not doing enough to look into events in middle east, far east and even Europe where human rights are being routinely abused these days.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5103879321523674155.post-75014847573553922472010-10-01T03:57:00.001+01:002010-11-10T10:29:41.167+00:00EAST AFRICA, where big things will happen. We East Africans must now become of age...just imagine our combined resources, our peoples diversities, the endless god given natural talents in sports,in land in lakes and in hydrocarbons
